Atletico want Reyes and are ready to sell Petrov to Spurs.
I'm damn sure that with Lennon, Petrov, Keane, and Berbatov we can be a real top 4 contender, since we'll be able to beat all of our rivals even away.

I've never seen him play but know is highly regarded, depends on the price and may take time to settle like most players from la liga. I personally would prefer Downing but lets W&S

At least he's as quick as Lennon, but more aggresive and his crossings are superb.
In fact, Berb's international record (in terms of the relation appearances - goals), which is one of the best in Europe, owes much to Petrov's crossings. Last season in La Liga he made more assists than Beckam, Zidane or Ronaldinho. But his bosses wanted from him not so much assists as goals, since they thought that they had bought the new Stoichkov. Besides, he didn't settle well. This is why Atletico want a Spaniard in the face of Reyes, who is younger but no better than Petrov.

yeah, Downing is a British talent and is more likely to adjust to the team.
At the same time , however, Berb and Petrov can link up with closed eyes.

Petrov any day. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm anti-Downing. He's nothing but a useless streak of piss. £8million would be shocking. I wouldn't want to buy him for £5million.

he would be surrounded by more quality at spurs so I think he would fit in well and berbie would love his deliveries...i think 8 million would be good business given that he's young and british...over 10 million, however, would start to sound a bit much..its the way it is with british talent ..always pay over the odds...from what i have seen of petrov he would be an excellent signing and has a teriffic understanding with berbie...but if its downing i wont be disappointed as long as its not over 10 million.

That's a bit harsh, Downing's young, english, great crosser, great dead ball delivery, can dribble, knows the EPL-i wouldn't say that counts as a useless streak of piss but sticking Davids on the LW to do a job then i would concur with that theory.

I would take either, although it would be nice to have an Englishman who is guarenteed to be in the international squad.
On the Reyes point, he isn't even a winger, Wenger ****ed him and then ****ed his career.

Wenger literally ****ed Reyes on regular occasions in his gingerbread house, that's why he runs in a funny way.
Sheepy, just think if we sign Downing you know what you can get on your new Spurs shirt!

Here's an idea that no-ones though of: why don't we sign both Petrov and Downing - Downing for now, Petrov for after he settles, competition on the left, sell Ziegler, perfect!

Being Canadian, I'm not concerned about England. But if we have 6 full English international now, with Hudds looking dead cert to make it seven, and if we sign any further English international, the whole team would be knackered after a mid-week international game and our results will suffer.

Quote from that article I don't like - "Aguirre has spoken out that he is happy for the player to leave as he feels he has adequate cover for the left wing without Petrov. The Bulgarian has done little to impress the Mexican coach in pre-season and his sending off against Getafe last week confirmed doubts over the player’s temperament."

Petrov can superkick that prick Thatcher then!

Jeah, he's a little bit mad, but I think that we need such players. He would be a great signing, I'm pretty sure.

A good point, Chinaman. But almost all quality players are internationals, no matter English or not.

We just played a mid-week game against Sheffield UTD does that mean we're fecked for the Everton game?

I agree, midweek games don't mean much. Just give them an extra day off and they'll be fine.

To be honest, if we signed Downing I wouldn't be dissapointed. He will play better with better talent around him. I say he'll be better than what we have now on the left!

Look, we need a natural lefty who will deliver the goods. Downing has played well the last couple of games and with Jol to guide the boy, why not sign him. I know a couple of you disagree, but we need this position filled quickly. Don't know anything about Petrov, but Downing is a proven EPL player.

just read that the scum rejected Atletico's bid for Reyes, and Petrov will be in the starting line-up for the saturday match in La Liga.

Not seen a lot of Petrov but I would love to see Downing, as I've said before he crosses great from the left, he's only just 22, he's has experiance in the Prem and at international level and with M.J. as coach will get better. I know he will cost but if you want to improve you have to invest.
