Both players were outstanding when we first signed them but now look like they're struggling .
In the case of palacios I was very excited by him to the point that I thought definite legend in the making .
As for chorluka I remember some of us saying he was like a defensive version of berbatov ? . He's playing like he's 35 years old in his last season .

I didn't realise Palacios was this bad, I honestly don't think we will get the brilliant Palacios back. He runs around like a headless chicken, has no discipline and can't pass or at least make the right choices. He is worse than Zokora, at least Zok could pass.
I never really felt comfortable with Corluka, he started well for us but he has gone down hill. He still makes good tackles and interceptions but its very clear his lack of pace exposes us down that side. Also he never looks up for it, Choda will say its because he isn't a RB and that his natural position is CM.
I think Walker is the future and maybe Naughton, these guys look young and hungry. Maybe Gallas will get games as RB and Kaboul did very well last year for us in that position.

Wilson hasn't been the same since the tragedy with his brother unfortunately. His form went downhill after that, and now it seems like a confidence thing. I can't believe he did another pass across his own goal in our half in the second leg after he nearly cost us the tie in the first leg with a similar pass. And his stupid, needless fouls that he makes every time he loses the ball frustrate me more than anything.
As for Charlie, he's not as old as you'd think when you see him play, he's still got a lot of potential to get better. I hold out hope for him as he's nowhere near as bad as Wilson, he's just not as good as he was in his first season.

Given Palacios' personal problems, it's no surprise his form has taken a dip. He's a class player and will get it sorted out in time. If we got Diarra in, that would likely take some of the pressure off as well, same with Sandro once he settles. (Any news if Sandro has shown up and started training yet?)
Corluka is a little worrying, I think he'll be fine as long as we pair him with a fast winger, like Lennon or Young if he ends up joining. As long as we don't pair him with a slower guy like Bentley he'll be ok. I thought Kaboul and Walker both looked great back there last season and look forward to seeing them progress. Kaboul particularly is such a physical specimen, I'd love to see him put it all together and I think he will. We should be careful with Corluka though, I'd hate to do anything that annoyed our other Croatians, and frankly would like to add a couple more.

Surely Palacios brother dying will have given him closure? He was brilliant even though his brother had been missing for a year plus, why didn't he play badly then?
I think Palacios has been found out and needs to stay behind training so he can learn how to pass.

I just feel if these two could get back to their best we would be even tougher to beat . I think in time they will be back we will just have to carry them for now I suppose .

I don't think anyone can get over a sibling dying. A good friend of mine lost his older brother when he was 11. It was his late 20's before he was able to to come to terms with it. I wouldn't blame Palacios for losing his form over it. He's still a model professional about it though.
I think Corluka gets alot of unfair flak. I think he's such a composed and cool full back on the ball, reads the game so well. Yeah his pace lets him down on occaision, but I still think he's the best RB we've had since pre-injury Carr.

Yeah like the young boys first leg. I know Dawson messed up and gave the ball away but the vision of Corluka looking like he was jogging back will haunt me for a while! I do agree though that he is so calm on the ball but not sure I like that too much as he sh*ts me up that he's going to lose the ball all the time but somehow gets by.
I think Palacios will pull through too, like someone put earlier maybe when a bit of pressure is taken off him, with either Sandro or if we sign another tackling midfielder then he'll come good. We have seen that the quality is there

Kidnapping for ransom is fairly rampant throughout Latin America, he may have just assumed everything would be allright. And then after it all went wrong, he's wondering if a different reaction on his part may have been the difference. A million possible things could be running through his head on the subject, or it could non related. He's shown before he has the class though, and I think he'll come good to it.

no he couldnt, but i think you mean he can pass better than palacios can. think we still need him in the team as he is by far our best tackler.

He was a decent passer, not the worst I've seen that for sure. Its the same when people moan about JJ's passing people say he gives the ball away when stats prove he had the best pass completion during the game. So then people moan he is too safe, only passes it side ways ect. Well at least he can keep the ball, Palacios can't do nothing. JJ would also call for the ball and show himself for throw ins, Palacios looks scared stiff.

Jenas is the most underappreciated player we have. He's pretty much always in the right position, works his socks off, and doesn't try anything beyond him.

I've thought maybe Wilson is disallusioned with football now.
If he wasn't a rich footballer, his brother wouldn't have been targeted ?
Who knows the guilt he's feeling over this.
