I know he wont be popular amongst many but I think its excellent business. A winner with a wealth of experience. Not to mention real quality and scores fairly regularly for a CB - can also play LB and actually wants to win. Ok he's ex scum but that should piss them off rightly! He's also quite eccentric but if he behavies whilst he's got the shirt on I'll certainly give him a chance.

I cant help but think that Gallas and King would be some pairing when they would actually play together.

Great business for me.

Dunno how I feel about this one. The guy is a total prick and not just because he played for Ar***nl. I've never liked him. Although, i'm always willing to give a player a chance if he's willing to pull on the white shirt. Would never boo a new player based on who they played for or how badly they've behaved in the past. Clean slate for me. So welcome William you ex-gooner French ****er!

He's not an ex anything. Gallas plays for himself, he happened to be employed at Chelsea and Arsenal, but it can't be said he was ever really one of them.

I think this will be a good addition. Our team is a bit mentally weak and a little too laid back for my tastes. I would have preferred the fire come from somebody like Bellamy, he seems to be a prick because he wants to win so much, Gallas just seems to be a prick. But a little bit of fire is going to be good, and if it doesn't work out, we can just pass him over to West Ham or Fulham and his tour of London will be one step closer to completion.

No way do I want this c*nt after the amount of times my blood has boiled over him celebrating against us over the years and what a cocky prick he really is, he is scum all over, I don't want him, I'd be disappointed if we got Gallas.

The funny thing is that he probably isn't 'scum all over'.

Remember, he was a part exchange + 6m for Cashley Cole.

I was against it at first, but after Tuesday you have to admit, without King and until Dawson hits his form again, we are going to concede goals. Lots of them.

Gallas will bring his experience to the team, something we seem to be lacking at times. Yes, he has strops from time to time, but so does Keane, so does Bentley. Remember, we were up for the biggest cvnt of them all to sign just 48 hrs ago, so there is no real grounds to be against it because he can disrupt the harmony of the squad.

If theres any fvcking around in the squad, who is the best manager to sort that out hmmm? Oh yeah, thats right - we already have him.

In Harry I trust.

Thing is, when he was a Chelsea I thought he was underrated and would have liked hinm to join us. But with the Gooner taint I can't say it wouldn't effect me, and other odd little things like his inflated ego, ridiculous wage demands, and beefing on the pitch after a 2-2 at Birmingham.

As long as he understands that he is a squad player to help us do well in Europe and bring experience and strength, and not have his every wish fulfilled, then I agree he can bring alot to us. Otherwise I remain sceptical.

Harry's not an idiot though, he would have done his home work and got alot of refrences from many in the game. If Harry thinks this guy can improve us then thats enough for me. The guy doesn't cost a transfer fee, but he could bring problems. It would be interesting to hear why he joined spurs if he signs.

But Harry just has a way with players, especially players who have a bad reputation. Harry and the coaching staff do an fantastic job keeping everyone togeather. Gallas should have the Davids effect, if he is proffessional and wants to better himself. Thats what he should be striving for, if he comes to spurs with a bad attitude and thinking he knows best than he won't last.

I don't believe that will happen and if it does I expect Harry to deal with the situation with ease. How many times does Harry get performances from players who don't have a future at spurs? Bale, Gio, Hudd, Dawson, BAE, Gomes, Pav, Bentley ect.

I don't know Gallas personally, only what I read which tells me there's always two sides to a story. I've only seen this guy do one bad thing, the rest is hearsay.

He has alot to prove, I'm sure Harry can push his buttons and get the best out of him......Hopefully.

Has he retired from International football?

If not, then he will obviously need to be at his best to even stand a chance at getting in the team...

I wouldn't quite equate Gallas' all round footballing stature with the likes of Edgar Davids, but I do agree that he can bring alot of experience and quality to our defence, and that Harry's not going to do something without knowing what he's doing.

But not far off and Davids has a poorer reputation as a bad boy in football. Drug bans, falling out with managers and players in big tournaments ect.

But I'm still not convinced he has the bollocks to step up to the challenge, he will need to win the fans over fast. He can't afford a slow start, the fans will sadly turn on him.

Us Spurs fan are very fickle.

I'm hearing 60k a week 1 year deal, Modric is on 70k a week which makes me believe so if Gallas. I think all our top earners are on 70k, not all the players just a few. Arsenal offered Gallas 80k a week plus a 1 year deal but Gallas most likely had enough there.

i thought robbie and ledley were our top earners.

nevertheless, me thinks it could turn out very well. but me also think that it could go pear shaped.

i think it is a wait and see job.

but on the defensive performance that w gave against young boys i would like him in there now. bassong was non-existent (apart from his goal) and daws is not with it atm.

They are along with Modric at 70k, can't see Gallas not getting same kind of pay as them.

I can dream.

I got to admit now you said that I would find it amusing if he slags off his former Arsenal once he has signed because they didn't offer Gallas a contract that he wanted and tried to cut his wages.

Also it would be interesting to see whether he gets jeered by Tottenham fans on his debut match.

I know certain additions, particulalry from rivals make some fans blood boil over.

Gallas has no allegiance to anyone in the Prem....few of the overseas imports really do.We live in a world where players can come from anywhere, the days long gone where local lads with a real affinity for a team came off the terraces to wear the shirt and tread the hallowed turf. There are one or two around...players who wouldn't dream of playing for a rival but they are in the minority by a long way.

Gallas is..in my humble opinion ..a decent addition....He is passionate and hot headed ..but so what rather wear heart on sleeve then go skulking behind peoples backs.

He is neither arsenal thorugh and through or chelsea..and he wont be spurs ..

He is a professional making a good living ..and as long as he brings something to our table and enables us to improve and push on...its irrelevant these days where he is from....

we care about rivalaries...most players these days dont give a monkeys except when making soundbites for media ...to keep their popularity in check

I fully back Harry with this transfer, shrewd signing, he's experienced, solid defender, who scores a fair amount of headers.

Welcome to the Lane gallas, keep your mouth shut and you'll do fine

It's a good signing.

He was a really top player at Chelsea and I think he will be terrific here with better defensive players around him again.

He looks to me like he gets frustrated and loses the head/concentration when he's surrounded by poor defenders (arsenals keeper and defensive mid) or organisation (France), but I think he will be great here and can possibly still play at right back as well.

Gallas problem at Arsenal was he needed a defensive partner who could head and be a bruiser. They needed a Dawson type figure, he should fit in perfect here if he has the right attitude.

Yea, that was one large factor imo. I think he should be great with just about any of our centre backs. I wouldn't like to see him partnered with Hudd or Charlie though!

Great signing, we've got a quality, hugely experienced centre back who hates losing more than anyone I've ever seen, and we've got him for free off the scum. What could possibly be better? The best part of all is that the gooners are really pissed off - happy days :001_smile:

Can anyone remember the full reasons for Gallas sitting in the centre circle And why he was stripped of the captainacy- How these actions can not be described as disruptive, I fail to understand. At 33 on a 1 year deal he can only be described as stop gap. It will keep Bassong & Kaboul out of team. I also am sure I heard either ex scum players on TV saying he was not good enough anymore. I think he is past his best and would rather see Kaboul as King's cover than Gallas.
