Which game will King play?
Two different style of teams in two different situations..

I'd play King against YB in the return leg, it's simply too important.

Play our cloggers and bruisers against Stoke, it'll be a bloody tough game up there. Plenty of height to deal with Delap's throws.

Team v Stoke:

----------------- Gomes ----------------

Kaboul --- Dawson -- Bassong --- Ekotto

Lennon ---- Jenas ---- Palacios ---- Bale

------------ Keane --- Crouch ----------

Rest Huddlestone's knee, Defoe's and Modric's groins. Give Lennon game time because he needs it, and use some tireless bruisers in midfield and Crouch's physique to cope with the games physicality. Use the flanks with Bale and Aaron, whip it into Crouch for the effort or knock down to Keano, with Keano also dropping deep to bring it out of midfield.

Team v YB:

------------------- Gomes ---------------

Corluka --- Dawson --- King(edit) -- Ekotto

------- Huddlestone -- Palacios ----------

Lennon ----------- Modric ----------- Bale

--------------- Pavluchenko -------------

Continental setup, following Antil's theory of less misfiring strikers and more quality midfielders, with the front 4 linking up on the deck, Pav/Mod utilising the one-two's and creating triangles on either flank with Lennon/Bale. There's also the ability for the wingers to get down the channels with pace and whip crosses in for Pav. I go with Roman because depsite his inconcsitency he's the best all round CF for that role.

Well playing King against Young Boys is a no brainer now, given that its in the balance. Yes we are real favourites with the bookies but we cant take any chances, so thats that.

GG I completely agree with your line up against Stoke. Infact I may even be tempted to not risk Bale, and play Kranjcar instead. But no I would start Bale, fatigue shouldn't be factor this early in the season, and the more games they play the more match fit they become.

I would rest Hudd though if that surface did affect his knees. He is so important to our ball retention and possession. Without Huddlestone everybody else's game suffers and as a result the team does. He's so important and is first name on the team sheet for me now.

As for the line up at home against YB. We could go that way for sure, but I am not convinced Harry will.

PS - GG slip king in for Bassong in your line up against YB, its niggling me lol...!

Modric. king and Hudd to be rested for Wednesday though - without doubt.

Defoe and Modric both have groin strains, so I am not sure how long they would be out for?

I ask this question because Stoke away is bloody hard and we need to get three points asap.

I agree with GG team apart from Palacios, I just don't trust him anymore. But if Hudds not 100% then no need to risk him.

Second leg YB will sit back and counter attack, if we play 5 in midfield we may struggle to create chances.

My team against YB.

------------------Gomes--------------

--Kaboul-------Dawson----King-----BAE

--Lennon-----Hudd------Modric-----Bale

------------Crouch-----Defoe

If Kaboul does well against Stoke then he plays again, Crouch for me is a must but Defoe is on thin ice for me and needs to earn his place. If Keane plays well against Stoke then he could start for sure.

An early goal with our fans creating a triffic atmosphere we should batter them.

Ah, but my thinking is that with the 2 deep midfielders you will see the other players become in essence 4 attackers. It's a really flexible system, which allows for packing the midfield and protecting the back four when under pressure, then switches to 4-3-3 when we counter attack, and a 4-2-1-3 when in possession and building an attack.

We can see how teams like Germany used it to full effect against similarly defensive teams.

But of course there's the assumption that we would be well enough drilled for the players to exploit it, and I can't see Harry not playing 2 strikers with the "talent" we have.

442 on a good pitch these cock suckers shouldn't live with us, I think they will play 451 and counter attack. We need a goal and most likely another goal because they look dangerous on the counter.

I think we need familiarity, no point changing formation especially a more defensive one at that when we need to win the game.

Away from home we should definetly be 451 and that could be 433 with wingers higher up or 4231.

King and hudd must not be risked against stoke theres just to much at stake.

My team for stoke..........
------------ Gomes-----------------

Corluka----- Dawson---Bassong----Bale

Lennon-----Kaboul-----Palacios---Kranjcar

-------- Crouch---------Keane------------

For YB
-------------Gomes------------
Kaboul---Daws---King---BAE

------- Hudd-----Palacios---------

Lennon----Giovani--------Niko
------------ Pav ----------------

JJ is a doubt for both games didnt travel to switzerland if hes fit id have him against YB in place of palacios, who is a liability for me. Crouch as an impact sub against young boys.

Like to see Kyle Walker given a run maybe at Stoke, attack them with Gio down the wing or Lennon if hes proper fit.
King for YB only
Pav and Keane for Stoke game then decide V YB depending on fitness etc
We're gonna have to score at least 2 v YB at WHL as we aint gonna keep them out all 90 minutes

If Stoke is expected to be a physical game I really dont think Jenas is the answer! He seems to be scared of his own shadow! Play Krancjar instead & I think that would be a good team for the game at Stoke

You want to take the tireless JJ out and put the decidedly unphysical Krancjar in CM??
Wuh?
