Now Martin Jol can go to the board and state his case to get some more players in. We need some flair in our midfield, at the moment we have too many midfielders who are the same sort of player.

Players needed:

Right Back
Attacking central midfielder
Left Midfielder

totally agree with the attacking midfielder and left winger. Jenas was awol yesterday and is not supplying the attacking threat from midfield every team requires. I did not understand the substitution of Zokora whilst leaving Davids on?? Davids should have come off for Keane. Keane was our best player and that says it all as he was only on a third of the game. I think Riquelme and Downing are perfect suitors.

Why are we panickng i saw enough good things to give me hope.
If i was 2-0 up in 13 mins to a tem that just missed out on CL place last season i'd have done what fat sams lot did.

I have to admit that was pretty boring of Bolton, but they play to there strengths they know if they pushed up we would have found gaps and destroyed them not pretty to the eye i know.

there just seemed to be no urgency in our game, we must start quickly @ home and away, come out all gun's blazing and the need for a L/M is a must now.

We all know how Bolton plays and it's their style. They're a very physical side and very direct. If they get the lead especially at home they're very difficult to score against, but I just hope the team has learned the lesson and will come back stronger against Sheffiel united.

I hope so, don't expect Sheff Utd to rollover they will start with a high tempo and they would have watched the Bolton game. Warnocks not stupid if they get there noses in front they'll revert to Boltons tactics. We've got to come out firing if not we've got a tough game on our hands.

I am not aware that the Board have stood in his way, in making any purchases. He just hasn't yet found the right players to fill any gaps we may have.

Winning was the best thing that could have happened actually.

We've got to learn that teams are not going to be suprised by what we are capable of. We were in the top 6 all last season with good reason.

We have to be patient in our build up as teams are going to drop deep to counter the speed of Lennon and Defoe. They can't play up the field and let them two get in behind them. Even if they're are not 2-0 up

Do not know if it was the best thing to happen but it was a wake up call, we need to get Downing in ( did we all notice he provided the crosses for two of the England goals) and as for no creativity you right, thats why having 18 million in the bank is no subsitute for Carrick.

I don't think there is any real case for concern. The first goal was a foul and the second was a freak goal. Beyond that Bolton only really forced one save out of Robinson. Apart from that Bolton did nothing, we had the majority of posession and passed the ball around quite well.

We got Bolton'd basically. Their game is about being physical and being a strong unit, which they did very well. They scored 2 goals that shouldn't have happened and just shut up shop. They will do it to many other teams this season.

I'm not personally worried about the result, Bolton are a poor team with hard working players and a successful method of play. You'll see them do it to many teams this season.

I agree, if the other top four went two very unlucky goals down to Baulton at the reebok they'd also be in a world of shit. Remember Baulton did Arsenal twice last year, they're painfully ugly but they are no mugs.

We were still poor but it must have been very disheartening to go two goals down at a place like the reebok. As I said in the 'crap start' thread it is obvious we do also need to sort out the balance of physicality and creativity in midfield, but I think Jol will see that. He's a very bright man.

I'm not too disheartened just a bit frustrated, we'll get going.

In essence, that sums it up.

as far as i know the board have been very supportive of jol , and generally going out to get the players he wants .
i agree that they shouldnt bust the wage caps in place , or that just because we have the money we should pay over the odds for players .
i remain confident that we will sign a couple of players before the end of august .
