I thought it might be worthwhile starting a thread for each ITK/rumour, just to keep the site a bit busier.

Anyway, first up is this daunting snippet:

COYS: Peanut

Curtis Davies: we've asked villa what his situation is. only covering bases but would be v underwhelmed...

I actually think it makes pretty good sense. Ok he's far from a world beater but when you consider whoever we bring in will have to be content with being way down the pecking order, particularly when King is fit, it makes sense.

Furthermore the season before last he was excellent with Laursen at the back for Villa when they were gunning for fourth.

Sure its pretty underwhelming in terms of excitement but from a practical point of view its a fair shout.

Your arn't going to sign a real talant who doesn't expect to be starting regularly, unless your talking about someone who is very young and inexperienced. Davies is solid and could come in do a decent job when required. A pretty effective stop gap for me.

Might as well unstick the other transfer thread if we are gonna do this again?

I don't want him, I would rather Krajer? The other cb we have been linked with, can't member his name now but he is getting rave reviews.

Kjaer? He's fantastic, but would have to be a nailed on starter. Daws would be the one to make way for King if we signed him. Not sure that'd help Daws progression who is on the verge of greatness.

Its a difficult one because we have the champions league now on a wednesday and can King play wed and sat for the first few months of the season? Then we have bassong who is a great replacement for King so you wouldn't really want to hold him back and then Woody who is still up in the air at the moment regards to his future.

Our problem lies with Injurys because if King gets an injury or Dawson then we will only be left with Kaboul and Bassong. Which aint great.

Thats exactly my point Gino. Kjaer aint coming to slog it out with Bassong for third choice, I would be amazed. Would only get him if he was walking straight into the first eleven. That would be spectacularly unfair on Dawson given the season he has had. Dawson has earned the right now, and is one of the first names on the team sheet. You cant just say, oh rite now Michael you'll have to wait for your opportunity (again) when he has already taken it with both hands.

We need a CB who is prepared to come in on the proviso that he is cover at the moment - with a view to getting in the first team if he can impose himself, thats the way it should be sold.

Someone of Kjaer's ilk would expect to come straight in to the first eleven otherwise he wouldn't be interested, simply put.

Woodgate is out of the picture I think. If we brought Kjaer (which would be ideal) then I'd see us more as a Top 3 defenders than a top 2. Kind isn't going to be able to play every week and given CL football (and possibly a nice Europe run if we are eliminated) and the Cups, we should have plenty of games.

King is great, but we still can't really depend on him week in, week out.

Id rather get a centre back whos comfortable at right back either richards or kjaer would be good, kjaer has an 11 million release clause.

kjaer seems to be getting good reviews everywhere and lloking at the comments above you all rate him highly. tbh i havent seen much of him. can someone tell me his strengths, age, and weaknesses.

we would like to have someone versatile but who will be happy not to play everygame. i think woody will be a long shout and i dont think he will be able to cut it. injuries will have taken their toll at his age. richards would be good and are we really going to spend 11+million on a defender according to rojoknapps' figure.
