Great to see Ledley and Crouchie (hand ball & offside cough) on the score sheet but that is seriously flattering. Mexico by far the better side.
Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Carrick has been terrible and Milner anonymous, Gerrard as well. Walcott is totally brainless when it comes to end product.
For me this is why Huddlestone would be so valuable at this level against this kind of oppossition - ball retention.

How shite is Walcott though??

Midfield we are getting overun and out passed. Defensively we look awful, Ledley getting turned and losing his markers easily. Walcott is brainless, Carrick lacks confidence and doesn't look the same player he was when at Spurs.
Playing Gerrard left wing is a waste, we have no balance which makes it very hard for us to pass the ball.
Get Carrick off for A Johnsen, Lennon for Walcock. Then bring Hudd and Daws on later in the half.

Hart, Defoe and Carragher in. This looks much better with Gerrard in the centre and Milner on the left.
What a strike by GJ!
Much better balance here, but would love to see Lennon on for Walcott, and Hudd on for Carrick.
To be fair to the little shit Walcott he's done a bit better second half but he is still incredibly frustrating - Rooney looks like he wants to dec him!

Would loved to of see Lennon and Johnson start, it would of been so much more exciting.
Dissappointed from a possession point of view really, didn't get to see much football from the lads really in terms of nice link up play, a few nice moments but not enough for me at home. Better in the second half though.
Why start Gerrard from the left, what the hell is this obsession, really like.

Much better defensively second half King and Carra looked solid. Both keepers did well and JD linked well with Rooney. We actually looked more of a threat on the counter attack just a shame the final ball was missing.
LB we looked weak, no option going forward and I felt sorry for Milner because he played with donkeys tonight.
Gutted for Dawson it looks like he will have to wait for his first England cap.
I said before the game that I fancied King to score, such a shame I never have these feelings in the fvcking bookies.:001_rolleyes:

Shit England first half made ledley make mistakes because the covering and closing down was atrocious.
however it seemed like rio didnt lead like a captain should and it was ledley doing the shouting and taking the initiative to close down where he could whereas rio played the quiet role.
wish lennon started just dying to see what he can do.
think upson, dawson, swp, heskey, barry, thudd will miss out. johnson and cole will fight it out for the left spot.

I would think the team to start against the USA would be:
Green
Johnson
Ferdinand
Terry
Cole
Lennon
Lampard
Gerrard
Milner
Crouch
Rooney
I would love to see this though, 4-3-3 (4-5-1 off the ball):
Hart
Johnson
Ferdinand/King
Terry
Cole
Gerrard
Lampard
Milner
Lennon
Rooney
A Johnson
Not going to happen though, but for me that would be a frightening side for the counter attack.
Given that we will likely surrender a lot of possession against the decent sides no matter who we play or how we set up, fast counter attacks could be vital if we want to score plenty of goals.

Walcott is about as useful as a paper condom. Lennon was far more effective in the time he was on.
Futhermore Walcott is a Gooner, and that makes him a c..... ahem.

I've never seen a good England performance when Gerrard and Lampard both play cm togeather. Simply because of Gerrard who can't play in a two man midfield unless he has someone behind him who will sit.
Imo we need to get the best out of Lampard, he is a fantastic player who is a game changer. I would go with a 451 formation and play Gerrard behind Rooney and let him have a free role so long as he doesn't get in Lamapards space.
Green
Johnson
Terry
Rio
Cole
Parker/ If Barrys fit then he plays.
Lampard
Gerrard
J Cole
Lennon
Rooney
Parker simply because we need a fiery ball winner who will run and run for the cause. Carrick is too laid back and just doesn't switch on for me.

capello got the balance worng in the first half. england looked much more dangerous in the 2nd than the first with milner on the left. would have liked to have seen johnson and lennon together for a longer period of time.
hopefully daws and hudd can start with the two wingers on sunday against japan.

Given the players we have and the lack of a world class striker to partner Rooney I am in favour of playing 4-5-1 formation.
Rooney plays like this in Man Utd big games and is used to this formation now as is Gerrard who would be needed to get up along side Rooney to support along with Lampard. Leave Barry as the anchor and have Lennon on the right and my tip for a world cup star Adam Johnson on the left.
James
G Johnson
Ferdinand
Terry
A Cole
Lennon
Gerrard
Barry
Lampard
A Jonhson
Rooney
If things don't work out he always has Crouch on the bench as a plan B option.
I think we may have a chance of doing something special if we used this team/formation.

Me neither, but I think Capello might go that way if Barry doesn't make it. Asking Gerrard to be too discplined curtails him, and asking him to play on the left is limiting him as well.
I just dont think Capello will opt for Parker, dont even think he will make the 23. I would also say Milner will start ahead of Cole at the moment.

That is exactly what I am saying, but I was assuming Barry wouldn't make it. I agree with that though. Possibly Milner to start ahead of Johnson, using him from the bench to start with.
