This morning I sent a mail into football365 ranting about this northern idiot who claimed Lennon did not possess a tenth of Downing's ability. And I got published!! Here is a link to the page, check the mail signed 'Nathan Flint'. Yes, that is my name.

I must admit I was seething this morning upon focusing my eyes on the e-mail from Anthony J Cass, which was in fact, to use his favourite word, Bollocks. Stewart Downing brings nothing to the England team. He is not international class and quite frankly, Wright-Phillips or Lennon would do a better job and neither is even a left winger. Spurs have been consistently linked with Downing this summer, at a quoted price of £7.5million.

If my club spent even £3million pounds on this useless streak of piss I would be tearing up my season ticket. The fact he has decided to criticise Lennon causes me to ask, what games are you watching mate? Aaron Lennon is the brightest winger in English Football, yet Cass claims he does not possess a tenth of Downing's skill.....

....Are you serious?!? Downing wouldn't know skill if it slapped him hard, square in the face. He is a Steve Stone-esque winger, head down and run. He can't beat his man for sh*t, something Lennon does EVERY time he gets the ball. The reason I don't appreciate Downing is because he isn't a good player.

Mr Cass must be as deluded as his Geordie counterparts, who are still convinced they are a big club. Good luck for the season, I'm sure Gareth Southgate won't turn out to be the worst managerial appointment of the summer. Oh, and yes, I am a Spurs fan.

Just to clarify, I don't have a season ticket, I used that as a figure of speech to make a point. As in that's what I would do if I had one and we signed Downing. Just thought I'd share. You can make any comments you wish, I'm happy.....it probably took me about 30 e-mails to get published though! :) (And a quote from Tom McLaren!)

I think Downing's a good player, but that's the point Cass was missing: He's a good player. Lennon is an emerging world class winger. What the **** is he watching?

If he said that Downing crosses the ball better right now I'd take his point, maybe that's what he meant, but Downing is not going to do damage like Lennon, not even close.

Guy who crosses it slightly better but can't beat his man or guy who tears defences wide open all day and creates wide open holes in opposition rearguard... hmm... that's a toughy.

And Lennon's crossing and shooting is getting better all the time.

What a bunch of moaning pretentious stuck up arseholes some of your mail ox contributors are. I've just been reading some of the moaning drivel printed in yesterday's mailbox, after actually clicking on this to see if anyone had finally given Stewart Downing some praise.

Whilst we all know Joe Cole is the first choice for that left midfield role, Downing is proving a more than adequate understudy. In Wednesday's game, Downing assisted three of the four goals (when was the last time an England player done that in one game??).

Yes does ANYONE give him any praise? Do they bollocks. And I tell you why, because he plays for Boro, not the cockney media darlings favourite's, Spurs or West Ham. Bollocks. Aaron Lennon comes on, does his usual run round like a headless chicken and gets more praise than Downing, who I must again remind you assisted three of the goals.

If Lennon had one tenth of Downing's on-ball ability, he would be deadly. Whilst Downing does not run into corners and waste the ball like everyone's favourite cockney Lennon, his quality is there to see for anyone who can appreciate a good player.

Bollocks to the London biased media and bollocks to the moaning tossers who are so negative about England.

Headless chicken? Running into corners? Is that what he calls running in behind defences after leaving them on their arseholes. If he knew anything about the game he'd know that doing that is one of the hardest and one of the most damaging things a player can do to the opposition. Your defence goes out the window when you've a guy busting through your system, and turning your whole defense.

What a retard. Having players who can beat people at will or with world class movement up front are the of the most precious commodities at the top end of the game. They can still open up and destroy well coached modern defences.
