Mirror:
TOTTENHAM manager Martin Jol has made an enquiry for Luis Boa Morte - in case an £8million swoop for Atletico Madrid's Martin Petrov fails.

I think Petrov will be ours.

there is some merit in it as atleast boa has prem experience. He'd probably cost us 6-8m which is a lot for a 29 yr old, but then most of us would have considered ruud at 10m. i've yet to be convinced from the little i've seen of petrov. The fact that he's not good enough for athletico is worrying and he likes to have space to run in, which he won't get any of.

Torres' season wasn't any better but no one will say that he's not good enough for atletico...And the Mirror article says that the Spanish team does not want to sell Petrov.
you've seen too little of petrov, he's one hell of a player - he'll be arguably the fastest footballer in the EPL and one of the best crossers. I think that Petrov would do better in EPL than in La Liga because the games here are by far more pacy

id go 4 petrov on the strength of boa morte being a prick at the end of the craven cottage game last year. hughton should have lamped him. oh yea, he's also an ex-goon

I wouldn't mind seeing Boa Morte at the lane either, would only like to see us pay around 4 million though.

Not sure, he's a good player but not great (Boa Morte) and is getting on at 29. And like DJS says, it was the gooners that brought him to England. I'd rather us either sign Petrov, go all out for Pedersen or sign someone with potential and that can add something to our side, which I'm not too sure Boa Morte would.

So you dont feel Boa morte would be a better option than Davids or Ziegler?

As far as I'm concerned Ziegler can be sold, BoaMorte might possibly be a better option than Davids but I think Mr.versatility, Tainio would be better. Seriously I'd rather use what we have until January if neccessary, and wait till we can get the man we really need. And the fact he's 29 puts me off, we need someone more long term, with fresher legs.
I know it doesn't REALLY matter (although hastings and GOONHATER will disagree) but I can't forget that he's an ex-scummer.

Ive said it before and i will say it again, we should have kept Etherington. he had a good season for West Ham last year. I am not saying we should go out and buy him back, just that he would have done a better job untill we have found someone trully World class.

ehterington was shit last season, he's not that good. he cant cross to save his life and his short range passing is terrible. he still looks as bad as he was at spurs.
but talking of left wingers, what has fatty reid said about BMJ? i cant view most of the sites on newsnow cos they're fecking filtered on this shitty, knackered laptop i have at work.
can ya tell its friday ;)

Reid had a bit of a pop at us, he obviously didn't want to leave. Come to think of it a couple of weeks ago he gave an interview on SS, and that made me think he was staying here. He slammed our system a little bit, I think he feels he wasn't given a proper chance. I was surprised to learn he only made 27 appearances for us, in 18 months. Guess it was time to cut our losses with him. And £3m is a good price.

Id get both of them...boa morte could be our fourth striker and left wing cover.
I know he was a scum but it was a long time ago so hopefully its all neutralised out of his blood.
Plus he's portuguese and must have realised he'd made a mistake when all the french were signing and must have had his passport mixed up!

I'd still rather have Petrov. And I do hope this Boa Morte thing is someones idea of a joke. No goons at this club thank you.

I don't think we can afford to turn our noses up at players just because they made the mistake of once playing for that lot.
If Heny, Cole or Rosicky wanted to come to us on free transfers I think we'd be slightly mental to say no, don't you?

I think so, he was at the stadium yesterday but I'm not sure MJ would take the risk if he can bring in someone like Petrov. Still, be nice if we did bring in Denilson and then brought him on with 20 mins to go if we needed to keep the ball. He could do it on his own.

I say no because I just don't think it's worth it. Now, taking Henry is a different matter, it would be sweet revenge for the Campbell transfer, how sweet would it be to rub that in their scummy faces?!?

Well, I have no beef with anyone of any nationality, I just hate some scots as all the scottish people i've met are very assured, they always think they are right, and I just cannot stand their accents. They're miserable too, although people claim the Welsh are but I've no idea where that comes from! I'm fiercely proud of where I'm from, but I do feel an allegance towards the English as my grandfather was a Londoner, and the missus is a scouser.

One of my best mates' dad is australian, and the ability to nail the accent perfectly must be what my mate inherited, because he can hold a conversation with anyone and they won't know any different, they think he's australian! The accent is put on though, that's why we find it so amusing!

Welsh Spur.. How right you are as a Spurs Fan now living in Glasgow, I am sick to death of hearing how mighty Celtic are!!! Its like having a big Pub League up here in Scotland.. I actually went to a Scott Prem Game as my Son was given a Ticket.. It was Livingston v Falkirk, and trust me if I'd had my boots I could have run on the pitch and got Man of the Match the football was so poor!!! As for their boasts about Celtic being one of the biggest teams in Europe.. Its worse than Newcastle fans thinking they are a big club.. Big Stadium does not equal Big Club!!

Etherington has one pace....FAST. He does not know how to get the ball weigh up his options then accelerte past players. He caught a few defenders out last season, I bet he dont this season.

filtering out all the welsh and scottish crap I say buy boa morte. i cant even remember him playing for arseholes and he is proven premiership quality. the fee of £6-8 million would be fair in todays market. i think 1 risk on 1 bulgarian is enough for 1 season.

boa morte just pure quality, he does it from deep in oponents half, watch match of day and c how many counter attacks he sets up or finishes.. plus guys we have no real scorers from our midfield, thats y we aint in top 4. as most top 4 teams have scorers from midfield, arsenal just got rociky we still havnt adressed that prob . head b 4 heart mate.. who apart from ronaldo was more consistant and dangerous than louis boa morte...?

id get both players ba andpetrov, we need strength in depth and both r quality, or we gona fall to far behind again and have to battle with blackbuen and bolton, remember last season they played us off our own park... cos injuries to our lot ,

Don't rate Boa Morte and have not seen much of Petrov, rather then buy someone just because we need a player is daft, I would use Tanio or Davids and wait to January and go in again for Downing ( who laid on two goals for England ) he is a terrific crosser of the ball, is only 21 and will relize by then that M/boro are going nowere.
