Hargreaves was superb. Again.
Defoe worked hard.
Lennon, as hastings said, beat his man every time.
Terry made two noticeable errors, he is definately the worst defender out of Ferdinand, Carragher and King, at the moment anyway. That's just my opinion.

Leads by example though...
Good to see JD drop deep, he was working hard. Shame Lennon didn't see much of the ball, but he looked dangerous when he did. Certainly did himself some justice and proved he deserves his place. Shame Daws didn't get on though...

He's been doing himself plenty of favours recently though, he can become a better player, too. He's convinced me he's got top level quality anyway.

I saw the highlights of England. Early days alright but I thought Gerrard played great, and then Lennon came on and was great. If he sticks with 442 he's got a conundrum there. I think I'd just drop fat frank. You have to have a defensive midfielder and you have to have lennon and you have to have gerrard on the pitch. That's what I think anyway.
As I thought it would be though England actually had a good balance for once, and I only saw the highlights but they also seemed to pass it quite well. Surely Richardson is better than Downing by the way? Lennon would probably cause havoc on the left aswell, but he might not be good at getting balls in on his left foot.
As for Ireland tonight... mother of god. We were absolutely woeful. In fairness, we had loads missing and we don't have the players to come in when our first teamers are missing but we didn't do anything right tonight. No work rate, defense was a shambles, we didn't even defend corners properly. I'd seriously question Staunton at this stage. Even the twenty year olds we had out there tonight could have shown work rate and enthusiasm.

Oh by the way, a young lad came off the bench for us tonight called Andy O'Brien (not the vulture) on the left wing. He's got blistering pace and he delivered a few great balls across the box. He had one run where he tore the dutch defense apart down the middle beat three men (but he took the wrong option after he'd opened up a 3 v 1). He looked like he could be a proper player though. He's young and plays for the geordies. Maybe we could buy him on the cheap like Lennon and hope that he emerges as a real player.

Defoe did ok as his closing down got a goal and he provided an assist for lampard. If he had the service and didnt get caught offside a lot then he would have had a better game.
Lennon was dangerous with the ball but no1 passes it too him in case he steals their position in the team!
All in all very pleased that none of our stars are injured for the bolton game and defoe will probably be saving himself for then!

I think Terry is overrated alot. I'm watching the game soon as I was at work when it was live but it's getting rerun over here in afew hours.
He was at fault to for Crouchs winner in the charity shield

easy win against a poor Greek side..doesnt tell us much about the new era...was surprised we got 5 tho....Glad Becks is out..not for any anti feelings towards him just think we are more balanced without him...Still don't think Crouch is world class despite goals..and the real test with England won't come until euro 2008..what I'm hoping for is that Mclaren develops a way of playing that is consistent and picks te team accordingly....Defos movement was good ..but he still looks a bit tense for England and the others had fair games..but hard to judge against this Greek side..still a wins a win

How many times did Lampard leave the man he was marking at a corner, poor defending and we should have been punished on more than one occasion. I am not a big Terry fan either, i find him very arrogant.
I agree Defoe was trying too hard, but that is better than showing a lack of effort. After being left out of the World cup he must have felt under pressure, and was all out to make big impression.
Lennon looked lively, got the better of his man a few times but still lacks that final ball. If he can find that killer pass at the end of his runs, he will become a regular starter for England.
A good team performance, lets hope we can do it in the games that count.

How can people start digging Terry? The guy is so assured about everything he does!
Crouch looks embarrassing to watch, especially him acting as George Best on that right hand side at one point, but he still works hard and scored two goals, so what can you do!?
Defoe was eagar but caught offside too much. I like Richardson and would like to see him in lilywhite.

amen to that, white would suit him too. Ditto Hargreaves.
Dont want Hargreaves (always rated him) to go to Man U , tho if he does i think theyd use Carrick further forwards like we should have on occasions.
Defoe was great off the ball making space for others on many occasions, something often missed by many, set up Lamps for his fluke goal with some good play.
RObbo wasnt troubled first half
Lennon done good, tracked back well a few times too still needs to improve the end product more or wait (tho to be fair he does that more in a SPurs shirt)
remember tho Sven started off 3-0 against Spain so lets not get too excited

im i the only one who thinks hargreaves is the most technically deficient footballer in the squad.
his first touch and passing are abysmal. all he does is run round like a headless chicken tackling and on 60% of occasions, he concedes the foul.
still maintain carrick or even king would be better in that role.
thought our lads played well but felt sorry for defoe as he jus tried that little bit too hard but some of those offsides where harsh!

thought defoe and crouch couldn't sort there runs out. also defoe still lacks that poaching instinct to get in the 6 yard box. the point were gerrard faked to cross and put a low ball across the goalie was perfect for a near post run and defoe should have made it. to be fair to him, his service of gerrard and lampard was almost non existant. bit of a stroll otherwise although greece were all over us til lennon came on in the second half. thought downing did ok too seeing as he's fairly new to it. hope stelios plays that bad against us.

Complete bullshit mate. Hargreaves is a player who I admire, his workrate is second to none and the amount of his tackles that are successful is extremely high. ManUre aren't chasing him coz he's shite, that's for sure.

Terry made two noticeable errors last night and at times looks like a complete amateur. King and Ferdinand for England. Gerrard should be captain, not Terry.
