There was alot of talk on here yesterday about bringing in more players before the deadline, especially a striker. I disagreed with bringing in a big name, but a young player like Nugent who is highly rated in the Championship and could be available for no more than 3 million.

I was actually thinking this when I saw the line up of england U21's! He is a good player.

Yeah, he's already scored for club and country this season, could be a option. I believe a number of EPL teams looked at him last year but he picked up a injury.

We don't want a blockbuster 4th striker, a very promising youngster is what we need. If barney isn't up to scratch then someone like Nugent would be ideal

Yeah i have got to agree, Barney seems to have a lot to offer and hopefully he'll get a few more chances this season. A decent run in the Carling cup should see him get a few starts and hopefully a few goals too. It could prove to be a mistake if we choose to replace him before he's given a real chance in the first team.

Just before his goal I even said he will be a top quality striker. I think being able to watch him again brings him to the forefront of everyone's thinking. But he will be class one day, and maybe it is worth gambling on.
If I were Everton I would have bought him by now, as he supports the club and would give that extra percent. They are perhaps a bit close to losing him now though.

As someone who lives around the corner from the Preston ground, i know they would be unwilling to sell their best player. Maybe last year when Cresswell and Healy were at the club they may have considered his sale for 4 million at the least. But having sold many players this year the management have announced they wont be needing to sell anyone due to fan dis-satisfaction.
Paying over 4 million for someone proven only in the championship is a gamble for a 4th striker and for the future of england i hope he remains in Preston and continues to mature under regular appearances. Barney deserves his chance as a fourth striker no doubt!

He is being talked about the same way Ashton was, who I still wish we had bought. I think we should go for him. We just got 3 mil for Reid, Dawson was worht the 7 mil combined fee. Paying 5 mil for Nugent would be worth it.

McSheffey just cost 4mil so Nugent would probably cost about 8 and would be a big waste of money imo. We got 3 top notch strikers and 5 promising youngsters so there's no need for anymore strikers.

one out of them 5 has to be capable of holding down the 4th spot
