Thought michael brown was the man of the match....but our man was bale although he had a quiet spell, he is phenomenol on the counter and set one up if im right.

I'm going for Gomes. He made this an easy and comfortable win for us. A lesser keeper would have let in at least one, if not 2 of the Pompey chances. He covered up the defenses mistakes and did brilliantly for us. Let's hope that limited amount of treatment he received was much ado about nothing.

Gomes for those 2 incredible saves. Bale was probably next best.

Gomes made outstanding saves at important times, he wasn't 100% but he had a perfect game inbetween the sticks.
Everyone else had was hit and miss, very much like a training ground atmosphere on the field. Crouch did well, Bale as usual and Hudd/Mod kept us ticking.
Walker adapted well.

Gomes by the sounds of it, but I will wait for football first...:santaclaus:

i would have wited for football first, but i cant guarentee that i will be able to watch it so i went for bale. although in hindsight i think gomes was the superior of the two.
he kept us in the game and could have made the game a bit more livelier if he hadnt save one of those. but it is the scoreline that counts and i wiill take a clean sheet any day

Did you Bale instead of Gomes? If you did and want to change just let me know.

Sterile game really...didn't really play with much tempo and for me our full backs were our best out field players - thought Gomes was good as well.
I suppose Bale edges it, but I thought Walker was extremely encouraging. Looked tidy defensively, and got forward and was always looking to overlap and support Bentley. Great pick out for Modric as well. Also great run in the second half and picked out Crouch, who should of made more of it.
Actually given it was his debut I am going for Walker :santaclaus:
What about Crouchy's tidy foot work at the corner flag - great skill from the big lad there!

Thought I'd go for Bale, the lad's like a steam locomotive at times, unstoppable.
Walker impressed me as well. Gomes has impressed me all season actually now that it's mentioned with the way that he can be out of the game for long spell when we're dominating possession, but the instant he's called into action he delivers. Excellent concentration and focus that.
As for Crouchy... he scored a unchallenged header to be honest, but there are other opportunities where get's into a position where he really should score, but then mis-hits it, or there's a lack of power or composure and he fluffs it. But you look at the half volley he had which it the post. You just feel that when he's in those positions he lacks the cold ruthless finishing of Defoe or Pav.

We should award points for the best three players on match day for instance, maybe for next season?, against Pompey - I would go for: (3 points for first, 2 points for second and a point for third)
Walker 3
Bale 2
Gomes 1
I think that would be a pretty balanced way in terms of proving real consistency.

Yep, that's what Turk does already. So based on the poll so far, Gomes, Bale and Walker take 1st, 2nd & 3rd respectively

We tried to break it down so we can see who has been our best player in the league, fa cup and league cup respectively, best overall in the cups, and best overall all season. Be interesting to know who's leading at the moment actually. I'm guessing Gomes, Palacios, Lennon and recently Bale have become contenders. I'm betting I'm going to be suprised as to how many MOM's Crouchy has got actually.

I like the surprise, no one really knows how close or who is leading. They may have an idea but only once do I tell you guys who is in the top three and thats half way through the season. When I played football we had a stupid system but the manager would keep a list of who was picked for motm, no one had a clue not even his son until the day he it came to handing out the trophys.
