I have just been on skysports website, looked at the england team and was amazed that lennon after beckham has been axed to find him not in the starting line up. He instead has gone with this formation downing, hargreaves ( derserves his place!) lampard? and gerrard on the right...............why!

McLaren has about as much imagination as a mentally deficient ameoba. His favorite player is Stuart Downing, one of the most uninteresting and overrated English players for a long time. Disagree entirely Tom. That's EXACTLY how he should start his England regime. It send out a message that the senior players did not perform at all at the World Cup and have done nothing to warrant their inclusion in the squad except for Gerrard. It also enables McLaren to distance himself from the ridiculous Erikksson era.
