Its gone a bit quiet on the transfer front, which is worrying with the first game upon us. with 3 positions still requiring strenghthening does anyone know the latest white hart lane activities without it being vague gossip.

It's a little disconcerting. I'm getting flashbacks to last season when Jol said we could make do with three strikers. We were short for forwards during the run in certainly. With more games this season I'm a little concerned myself. Maybe Barney is finally ready. Was'nt blown away by him in the little bit I saw though.
Got to have faith in the big dutchman though.

If we did buy another striker we would probably end up loosing Defoe in january. We had enough problems keeping three strikers happy last season, it looked like Keane was going to leave before xmas and Defoe likewise after. We have replaced Mido with Berbatov and have Barnard and a good scouting network who can find more young up and coming strikers, to bring in another big name striker will just upset the camp.

which 3 positions need strenghtening then???
RB = Lee in his natural position now and therefore a hell of a lot better, Stalts as back up
ST we have 4 plus some youngsters looking to poke their noses into the Carling Cup campaign
LM Ekotto will be free to go forwards with our CMs dropping in to cover as and when , Lennon will also change sides regularly throughout the match as and when it benefits and Lee will then use the right flank.
so unless you want spurs to spend money just cos theyve got it, how about investing it ready for a new stadium that wont cripple us financially or giving us £20m to spend in Jan window when we'll have an idea of really whats needed from how the team gels .

Ekotto is a left backy, not a winger, we NEED a winger, I think then out squad is ready!
RB - I said ages ago Lee would be good there.
FW - We have enough strikers, but a bargain buy wouldn't go a miss, Blackburn got McCarthy for a snip.
Just that Left Winger, i won't deny it, DUFF would have been ideal. I'd like to see this Petrov fellow join as he is the dogs nuts and Pederson will be priced out of a move.
Downing, as stated by many is good, but I wouldn't pay anymore than £6million for him.

IMO the squad is set apart from the left side.
Lee and Stalteri can be given until January to sort themselves out and prove they can compete for the right back slot, we definately dont need a forward unless we get some injuries, and the left wing is worrying me to no end. I hope it's concluded soon.

Totally agree with you mate, be interesting to see this petrov play with berbie tonight against your boys.

Yeah, I'm not going to miss this game, want to see them in action, working together, but the result wont bother me either. I'e resigned myself to accepting that Wales will never do anything in international football, not in my lifetime anyway.

seing as though we havent even made a move or heard any serous reports about Petrov im not all that confident it will happen. i would have liked to see Richardson come to us in the Carrick deal. thats onviously not going to happen, ive changed my mind on Downing and think he would fit in well with what we need as he is more balanced than Lennon and can deliver a cracking ball. he is also defensively capable which would suit Ekotto's attacking style

Ive heard a lot of good things about petrov but as yet i havn't seen him play, im quite looking forward to seeing him against wales tonight. MGP is a class act but he seems to be very loyal to blackburn so i cant see that one happening. With regards to Downing, i personally dont see what all the fuss is about. I dont think we'll see a new lefty until january, i wouldnt be suprised to see routledge and zeigler play there until then.

Will be interesting tomorrow to see if he offers us more than he did in Germany.

The Petrov rumour has been very quite without any offcial denial/confirmation. I think this is a good sign, the club never comment on any rumours/speculation until the deal is at least 48 hours away from being signed. Remember the Davids transfer saga last summer? The Club said nothing until 48 hours before the signing. Regardless of who we sign expect the same thing, i.e silence.

Lets hope Petrov has a stormer and Berby & MJ can talk him into joining subject to A.Madrid agreeing, If not i think Commoli must have something tucked up his sleeve, i've got a feeling Commoli is tracking Ben Arfa but we will have to wait and see what happens to Lyon in the CL if they are knocked out early we may move during the January transfer window

Not as concerned about RB now, but i think we need Mido back and also one of the Athletico M wingers.

We should be playing many more matches this year after diabolical cup runs last season. i think we'll need cover and players have to get used to being rested. That's what top clubs do. if they want to play week in week out there is always Fulham or Charlton to play for. I get what your'e saying but I think we need a decent fourth striker not a superstar. a strong saquad keeps everyone on there toes.

Yep - I actually like this about the club, makes us more professional. I think we shouldn't sign Chimbonda on that basis, cos they've negotiated via the media.

We will sign at least one player. If it's not done in the next couple of weeks then we will do something on the last day of the window. We always do deals on the last day of the window.

Looks like A.Madrid maybe ready to do business on Martin Petrov just read a link on the official web site it, appears Madrid's coach is not pleased with Petrov's performances during the pre-season also they have signed another L/M player who's name escapes me @ the moment. link can be found newsmedia link on the official site or www.tribalfootball.com

Saw that earlier but wrote it off; I'm gonna check out Atletico's site if you say it's there though. Maybe his performance levels have been low due to him being unsettled?
