For me it would be only one person........GINOLA GINOLA!!!!
How balanced would the current team be now if ginola was playing. He would of given that extra bit if creativity we lack at the moment.

Have to be Gazza for me. We had him at his best and if you threw him into the current team playing his 1990 form we'd have a great shot at the top 3.

Since I've been watching it would only be between two players: Ginola and Klinsmann in his first spell.
Actually it's a no contest Ginola was absolutely sensational here. One of the most gifted and underated players of his generation.
If my memory serves me correctly we only saw one season of Klinsmann as he had come to be known: A truely world class striker. He was on the way down after that.
For me Ginola on song was among the very best wide players of all time, and he probably flourished here more than any other place. It's such a pleasure that the lane brings the best out of talented players.

theres not been an exciting player at the lane since ginola....except now theres lennon, when lennon has the ball the crowd get so excited that we expect something to happen, the last time the crowd got this excited was when we had ginola

Lennon has got a lot of development still to do though. He's got to improve the final ball and his shooting. But I hear you loud and clear buddy, he's a very talented player and it is exciting every time he gets the ball.
He ties people in knots which is always great to watch and he's such a threat. He's always going to create openings and stretch defences. The pace and acceleration are devastating but he's also got such good balance, and he's not short on skill either.

yup ginola or waddle to fill the obvious gap we have , but all things being equal then gazza , for the inspiration , work rate , team morale and sheer magic .

With our current problem on the left it will have to be Ginola or Waddle.

Thought exactly the same.. We need a left winger more then everything, so Ginola would be perfect.

Always room for another Hoddle and i would love to see Greaves up with Defoe or Berby and Keano just behind them!

We only had him for one season the first time around though, and he was world class. In his second spell I recall him saving our blushes by keeping us up, we beat thrashed someone (the opponents escape me) 6-2, with him scoring 4 in his final game for us. He is the reason I support Spurs, but given the current situation I was say Ginola as we need exactly that kind of player. But you can never forget Gazza, Hoddle, Waddle either, there's so many.....
....I'm gonna go with Ginola though for the reason above.

I don't want to copy Welsh Spur, but I was about to write the same. The guy on my avatar was my hero when he came, and would love to see him as one of our stikers. But with the current situation, Ginola would be perfect on the left side. That would be something for opposition defenders to meet: Lennon and Ginola!

I'd love to see a Waddle type player back at the Lane, who remembers Chrissy chipping John Burridge (Southampton goalie) from about 30 yards out on a soaking wet pitch, world class!

My only qualm about Ginola was that he never tackled back. If you watch Lennon, not only does he chase back but he's rather good at it too!

That was an incredible game!
Problem I have with a lot of these legends is I'm not sure if they could match the pace of the Prem - Chris "never trains" Waddle might struggle for match fitness these days! I think at the moment this thread should be a "which ex-Spurs left wing legend would you have Jol sign" - Ginola.
If we can ignore the left wing, I would be torn between Gazza, Klinsman, Clive Allen, Lineaker, Greaves or Ozzie. Or maybe Ricky Villa. Or Pat Jennings. Ummm, ok, I'll go Klinsman, cos I think he could hack it. Even though we don't need him.

has to be Ginola, no shadow of a doubt, he's a legend
Welsh Spur

I'm only saying Ginola, due to our lack of quality on the left right now. Ginola wouldnt make my team if there were others to choose from, he was a lazy bastard, while skilful and good to watch, but only when he's got the ball. And he expects it to his feet, he wont make any effort whatsoever to get the ball himself. But he oozes skill...

true about Ginola but i bet Jol could get that out of him and make him better player

Given we have identified our weakness to be the LW, RB and even LB need strengthening; and assuming Jol is satisfied with every other position, then I'd submit that the candidates are:
LW Clifford Jones
RB Joe Kinnear/ Phil Beal ( who later became a very
good CD )
LB Cyril Knowles

we dont need a new left back, ekotto looks excellent, we have lee, salty can play there as can ziegler

The only cause for genuine concern is the left. And we still look like we have plenty of goals in us, imagine if we did get Petrov or MGP!

If I remember correctly Ginola did track back under Graham. He made him do it, and I believe Jol would have demanded that kind of work rate from him aswell.
He was sensational on the ball, different class. Lennon does have a bit to go to get to his level, he needs to improve his final ball and shooting. But I'm sure he will and will be among the top three wingers in the world in one or two years.
Klinsmann was the reason I started supporting spurs aswell, I watched him play for Germany and Inter and idolised him. It really excited me when he joined spurs. What a striker.

Greaves, Mackay, Hoddle, Jennings I could be here all night, so I will just pick one for the left side, Ginola was great for one season BUT was a lazy sod, so it would have to be Waddle who would track back whem required.
