Tough one this, and would be more than happy with taking them back to the Lane.
Our injury concerns being the main problem here. It will also be interesting to see if Modric comes inside. I am convinced Harry will bring in Benny to accomodate our injury concerns, which probably means pushing Bale up on the LW.
I'll go for 1-1. Bale to score.

Gutted Hudd is missing, he has been oustanding this season and glad he has put me in my place. We need him fit alongside WP if we have any chance of finishing top five along with an FA Cup run.

Would be very surprised if EG starts, doesn't look anywhere near match fit. Kaboul and Walker are cup tied so I would expect our line up to be:
Gomes
Corluka
Dawson
Bassong
Ekotto
Kranjcar
Palacios
Modric
Bale
Crouch
Pav
King is out and with the two being cup tied we could be buggered if we get an injury along the back line.
Two in form strikers start...Livermore and Townsend on the bench - with EG. It will be the weakest bench we will have had all season - in terms of experience anyway.
If Bale has another stormer we have every chance, but how Modric fairs in the middle will be crucial.

Townsend is on loan at mk dons pal, or have we called him back? I rate him very highly a left footed lennon.

Sky Sports news said earlier that 8 of our common first team players are out.
That includes Bentley and Lennon.
Modric to play on the left and Kranjcar to play on the right would be fine tomorow.

I hope defoe makes it as feel Pav maybe tired if he played for Russia and could see Harry dropping him for Peter!
Would like Modric in centre and Bale on the left! Dont want livermore to start just yet but come off the bench but do rate him.

Obviously hoping for the win , but craven cottage is a ground which induces low scoring boring games . That said I think it will be 1-1 . I really do hope its a win even if its a lucky/scrappy one nil as I feel the continual replay's will take their toll and we might come unstuck if we have to play another one .

Its official mate itv have just gave the teams and thats bang on.
Always a tough game at the Cottage for us, Fulham on paper have a real weak team compared to us but games aren't played on paper. They turn up every week and give it a real go especially at home.
I would take a draw now if offered but I believe we can beat anyone away apart from the top five sides including Man City.
Palacios needs to be careful and not pick up a silly yellow card because we will miss him.

The key is going to be Modric´s behaviour in the middle of the pitch...for today´s game he should think more defensively then usually...

I'm worried about Bale in midfield. I don't think he will be as effective going forward without Modric there to create space for him.
This injury crisis is very galling since we all knew we were week in midfield in January but Harry decided not to do anything about it.

Keith Alexander, former manager, think he was the first black manager in the football league? He died during the week.
As for the match, the pitch is an absolute mess, I've played on better surfaces in Sunday League football.

In open play Bale looks like our only outlet to a goal, other than him we look very narrow and predictable.
Mod needs to up his game, upfront we have no pace so we need to hit Fulham down the flanks.
If things are the same for 75min I would be willing to throw Townsend down the wings, he would cause problems for Fulham. He is very direct, pace, great skills and very raw.
I think we also need to get crosses into the box as often as we can, but WP/Mod would need to be alive to the second ball.

These games seem to be a weak spot for us. We are doing pretty well dictating the play, but the goals aren't coming. Hopefully the team can stay patient and keep doing what we are doing and the goal should come. And potentially the first one opens up the floodgates.

A couple of things for me . Luka is not demanding the ball off the back 4 enough. And Niko looks very unhappy on the left .
olly27
6th March 2010, 05:14 PM
We should be taking full advantage of the fact that Murphy is missing for them - they are way below par without him, and Zamora is their only threat. If I could of picked one person to be missing for them it would of been Murphy - totally pulls the strings for them.
Some nice possession but we lack a cutting edge, only Bale is providing that. Charlie has been dissappointing as he has found himself in 2 or 3 very good positions and totally fluffed the opportunities.
At least we arn't going long with every chance but we need to get more crosses into the box.

I think his had a good game overall. Modric looks shagged out. Fulham will grow in confidence the longer the game goes on. Other than Defoe I'm not sure how we can change the game with the subs we have on the bench. Townsend would be a good attacking option but if you take BAE off we would be weak defensively.

I think we'll have chances. Fulham have to open up and go for the goal. They need this win. A draw works for us, we can go back to White Hart Lane and spend a couple of weeks getting everybody healthy. When they come forward it will leave Bale room to really get forward and since it looks like Defoe is coming on, I think we have a decent shot of grabbing a goal here.

That game stunk the place out,but we all realistically have to be happy to get the chance to finish the tie off at WHL.
Wilson had a very strong performance and Bale's excellent form shows no sign of coming to an end, which is very encouraging to see.A couple of bits of slack defending from Ekotto and Corluka nearly cost us.

6th March 2010, 06:20 PM
Fair result as fulham played like they wanted to stop us scoring and sacrifice their attack play. However with our squad injured i was hoping we'd get away with a draw.
solid defending is a plus point, but with crouch in the team modric was a passenger and was bypassed by dawson 4-5 times. Palacios seemed to be the more attacking of the midfielders too surprisingly.
Its a shame we lack a right winger at the moment as there was lots of chances to cross but their defending is tight and need pinpoint accuracy which wasnt there!
ON a sad note what was that jacket Tim sherwood was wearing!!

happy with the result in fairness the quality of play was really poor. there were some glimpses of good football on the deck by us, but the end product was crap.

Yeah they have played like 8 more games than us already this season. I am hoping that we have a better balance about us come the replay. I thought Bale was very good, again!, even in the LW position - but I still prefer him at LB with Modric ahead of him. Hoping that we have another CM option come the replay to accomodate Bale and Modric on the left hand side.
Thought we did alright this evening, we just lacked a cutting edge really. There is a more tenacious feel to us though - which is very pleasing. I also thought Kranjcar put in a good shift this evening, but Bale and Palacios were the two best performers. MOM correctly awarded to Wilson IMO.
Any ideas when the replay is due to be played?
Avoid Chelsea for the Semis tomorrow evening and what an incentive we have!

I think this game proved Modric can look after himself in central midfield - the way Fulham set up meant he couldn't work his magic but I was never scared of him being knocked off the ball, his football brain's too good for that.
Should deliver for us in the 'easier' games coming up.

That's not too surprising to me though. Think about it, Modric came up in Eastern Europe, and there are a lot of physical leagues over there. I'm sure he got the snot beat out of him as he was coming up. Had he not been strong enough to take it, he never would have caught so many eyes before moving to Tottenham.
