be interesting to see what team mcclaren will start with, hopefully our boys will play and show the world how good our boys are, hope lennon gets a good run as this will boost his confidence even more if he plays well.should be a good game and a 2-0 win will be a good result.

I think McClarens going to start gerrard on the right and owen H. and lumpard in the centre (cant remmeber if i saw that in th paper or skysports). But looks like Defoe will start for certain. Im sure lennon and Dawson will get a runout in the second half though!

Are you calling people ******s and making a lot of outlandish assumptions just because they disagree with you... or are you just having a go at white collar ******s who've never kicked a ball in their lives?

I wasn't in a frenzy. It just looked like you might have been having a go at people who think defoe is overated.

The FA don't pick the england team so I didn't know what you were on about.

But maybe you were just having a go at them which is fair enough, they are a bunch of clowns. Why can't they get football people to run the FA's?

Charming.:)

I'm surprised you haven't been snapped up by the Cambridge debating society.

Calling people muppets just because they disagree with you shows your level of maturity. Ironically you're probably one of the oldest guys on this forum but judging from you're posts you seem to have the psychological maturity of a young teenager.

I state my opinions and state my arguements for those points. I don't go around calling people muppets just because they disagree with me (and I don't think that either by the way).

You should take a leaf out of Chinaman's book, we disagree on some things, but he's a gentleman and I always respect his opinion because of that.

I know he's shit hot right now, but it's pre-season. I want to see what he's like during the season, whether he's improved his movement and other things. Otherwise he's going struggle again (the competitive teams won't give him license to shoot as that's all he brings right now), and the team will be lacking enough dimension.

As you state you dont think that way anyway why did you take the comment so personally????

well if you get that put out by a simple comment that wasnt aimed at you personally , then youre showing your lack of maturity.

and then its ok for you to throw insults when someone doesnt agree with you, but god forbid you have to take some flak, grow up its called life oh and seeming to have a psychological maturity of a teenager (your accusations)shows ive got sense of humour, how immature is Little Britain ,The Fast Show etc etc yet they are seen as comedy classics already
and anyway the muppets were great .;-)

You know that quite a few of us here think Defoe is overated. And I've written quite a bit about it. It sounded like you were basically calling anyone who disagreed with you a muppet.

And I was not giving you flak because you disagree with me. I don't care whether you agree with me or not, in fact I like to discuss things, but I don't like being called a muppet just because I have a different opinion to you.

Maybe you didn't mean it like that, text can be a horrible form of communication in some ways. If so I apologise and take back my comments.

Look, I don't know you, you could be a great guy, but you have to admit an odd message or two you do are open to rife misinterpretation.

Think about it, we've debated a lot about Defoe before, and I said he was overated. And then you turned around and said anyone who underates Defoe is a muppet. What the hell was I supposed to think?

No, what I said was that I don't think that people that disagree me are muppets. I've always stated here that I think Defoe is overated. I don't know where you're getting that from. And the only things I edit are my spelling.

You don't seem to understand that I offered you an olive branch in the last post.

If some european opposition fan nonse calls me a muppet next year as I'm walking by, do you really think that is going to bother me? You made a comment which you should have recognised three posts back in this arguement was very open to the way I took it. Otherwise we wouldn't still be having this arguement.

And if you recognised that you'd also recognise that an odd post or two you write comes across the wrong way, and that is why you get on people's nerves an odd time, not because people are overly sensitive. Nobody else ever annoys me on this forum (apart from the jackass), and you don't either except for two occasions (which I know now are down to how those posts came across).

I'm finished talking about this. I think your alright, let's just shake hands and move on, we're both passionate people who love spurs.

have just watched the game (day late ) and though the result looked good i think it flattered england immensly .
greece were absolutley useless 1st half , emphasised by robbo not having a shot to save .
our goals came from
1) 3rd division defending
2) a wicked deflection (albeit great movement and passing from jd )
3) again dismal defending with the greek defender missing an easy clearence , even then lampard couldnt score from 1-2 yards out
4) tallest man on the pitch , completely unmarked 5 yards out not even heading the ball properly but going in anyway because it would have been harder to miss .

yes there were some positives to take out of the game , hargreaves playing in his natural position with confidence , (it was sven brought him in wasnt it against massive criticism )

, gerrard looked a lot freer than ages but too be honest wasnt a great deal of end product apart from setting up our "in form" striker in acres of space 6 yards from goal with his head , oh he headed this one correctly and missed the kin target .

lennon , well need we say more , 20 min cameo role where he put the fear of god into the defenders , how long will he get next time .

downing , thoought he did well ( another sven debutee )

second half thought greece were the better side , ok the commentators said they had more to play for but as in the sven era we seem to fall away massively second half against a team we had put 4 past ,against a team playing shite , lacking in confidence , if ever a team was there for a complete mauling it was wednesday night ,a team more on the ropes that sylvestor stallone in rocky IV , but did we . no .

our defending at set pieces looked awful , our defence looked arrogant , complacent , over hyped , over paid . our midfield ran out of ideas and maybe puff , but the greeks are i beleive in the same stage of preseason as us .
yes i realise , well according to trevor francis -hard to really tell on the coverage i saw , that we switched to several different systems for the second half , but even so .

one of the commentators said that it was all so different from sven and the w.c ,that different formation and team selection made the difference , but maybe i am missing something
what was actually different apart from this time crouch had defoe alongside so playing 4 4 2 , which was svens idea until owen got injured , and downing starting instead of beckham with gerrard switching sides

i know this is the 1st game of a "new" era and 4-0 is a good international score against anyone these days but i wasnt that impressed .

btw how did the u.k press comment on the game

hi Sing, the UK press love MAcca as they always do with new coaches, for the first few games and until they find some drivel to spew up about them.

suggest you look at www.thesun.co.uk and read their reports
