Just interested to see how you guys see it. Last season we finished 8th after a bad start and this season we've got a much better start so I think a top 5 finish is realistic.

I'm going to predict 5th. Man city look terrible when they need to defend. They paid over £50m for Bridge, Toure and Lescott and they look weak at the back. I don't the excuse they need time to adapt (something I've heard Mark Hughes say this season). This contradicts what he said earlier in the season about signing players with premier league experience. The conclusion I come to is the defenders are poor and simply not as good as our defenders.

Liverpool have a history of finishing in the top 4 so it would be difficult to say we'd finish above them. We are only 5 points ahead with 24 games to go.

I'm saying 6th. Despite the destruction of Wigan I still think we lack the kind of consistency and defensive cohesion needed for the staying power required to make top 4. I think Man City will start to gel come January and that Liverpool will get Torres and Gerrard back to fitness and make at least 4th.

I'm afraid I can't see shoddy displays like Stoke and Bolton being a thing of the past just yet, and we don't look strong enough to defeat the two front runners either.

expected better from city, villa and pool this season , and with only city able to make any significant buys come the jan window and no promises they will gel straight off i dont see why we cant grab 4th place .

if redknapp can sneak it to jan and then strengthen the midfield with a decent playmaker then there is no reason why fourth is not unachievable.city will take the guts of a season to gel into a team and liverpool have lost their appeal as a draw for world class players. this season's fourth spot is definitely up for grabs!!

I will reserve judgement until we play our next four games, in that time we play Villa, Everton and City. That will tell us a lot more about how far we can actually go this season. If we are still fourth after those games, its ahievable in my eyes.

I have no real fears about Villa, Sunderland and Everton over a full season. Ad I think we will finish ahead of City.

I don't think Hughes is that great. Dunne was a rock before he came in, and is getting man of the matches all the time at Villa again. Richards was a big prospect and has had a complete nightmare under Hughes. Barry is totally out of sorts at City. The new defensive signings have looked mediocre. I don't think they are bad players but I don't know why you'd want to sell Dunne for Lescott or even Toure who is clearly past his best and had a poor season last year, couldn't win a header to save his life.

The problem with them seems to be bad setup and organisation coming from the manager and coaches. And the midfield just isn't good enough apart from Ireland and Petrov. And it doesn't seem to be well setup either.

I fancied us to finish ahead of one of Arsenal or Liverpool. Liverpool are in a bad run, they're squad depth is really poor and Alonso was a massive player for them.

I still think Arsenal are overated and at some point the lack of spine in their team is yet again going to cost them. The keeper is poor, the central defenders are a bit suspect defensively and they've no great defensive midfielder. And when they get injuries and some of their key men are very injury prone they are in trouble.

But we have to get our house in order as well. So far we have apart from the big games where Harry made a mess of it and made baffling and poor decisions. Other than I think he's been excellent aside from the Stoke game, which was still very unlucky.

I think we will amass a points total of third, fourth or fifth material, I said that at the start of the year as well. So I predict fourth, probably behind Arsenal looking at how things are now.

I'd like to see us sort out central midfield by finding the solution within the current squad or buying someone. I think we are one player away from being capable of just about anything.

If we get that sorted, Harry stops bottling it in big games and roughly keep everyone important fit from now on I think we could even finish with 80 points and be ready for an all out assault next year.

Hope you mean as a replacment for Jenas and not Palacios in central midfield. I'd use Huddlestone ahead of Jenas for now but he can be a lazy f*cker at times. Muntari would be an ideal full time replacement for JJ.

:withstupid: for sure, though not sure scousers will get their act together, 4th is up for grabs (Chel$ki, Man U, Scum, 4th, in that order) but as usual we'll contrive to bugger it up, let's face it it's more fun that way

Obviously someone to partner Wilson, I've pretty much written off Hudd and JJ, I think they've had more than enough chances and they just haven't done it. I'd love for them to drastically change but I just can't see it happening.

Unless the long rumoured Muntari move comes through I'm not really sure we're going to get anybody better in January. We could pick up the Sandro kid from Brazil, but nobody really knows what he's going to bring to the table and at such a young age he'll likely take some time to adjust to the Premier League. Combine that with the fickle nature of Spurs supporters and he's never gonna have a chance unless he comes in and dominates right off the bat. Our best bet to get a decent CM back in the side is to recall O'hara. But I'm not sure what the terms of his loan agreement are and if that is even an option.

For those reasons I see us at 5th or 6th.

I think we will mantain our current 1.8/1.9 ppg average over the rest of the season. Over a season we'd get 70/71 points.

That was enough for the scum and every other team in prem history however this season is more open for that top 4 position. 70/71 points should see us scrape 4th but we'll probably miss out because liverpool could end up with 70-75. Liverpool might end up with over 76 but I see that as very unlikely simply because they lost Alonso. To get 76 points they would need to show the form they showed last season.

Realistically Liverpool will probably average 2ppg for the rest of the season and that would give them 70 points. However because they have the experience that gives them the edge but only just.

If we missed out after getting that points total it would be tough but it would mean liverpool have put together an excellent run and unfortunatly they are well capable of doing this.

I'd say

5% 3rd
30% 4th
35% 5th
20% 6th
10% 7th

Very little chance of finishing outside the top 7 or finishing above man u and chelsea. Of course in theory either is possible but the odds would be ridiculous.

Actaully those percentages suggest 5th is more likely but liverpool should be very worried.

I'd be dissapointed if we finished 5th because I believe this is the year (how many times have we said this!).

Anyone disagree?

I'm saying 6th and I'm generally the most pessimistic fan ever so if I think 6th that's got to be a good thing right

Watching that second half was the first time I've felt that I've seen a side who belong in the top 4. It's no exaggerration to say that we could have won 4-1. I was encouraged to see that we didn't run out of ideas or belief, and still battered them right till the end.

With RVP out for 5 months, there are 2 teams we can realistically challenge for a CL spot. That home game would be an ideal time to record the first league win over Wenger.

I'm going to say fifth -- I think we're in the mix for 4th, 5th and 6th with the likes of 'Pool, City and Villa, but I'm not sure as to how it will all play out...I've heard rumours of Pool and City bringing in some names in January -- not sure how that will affect things.

Wholeheartedly agree. I will say it until I am blue in the face, our second half peformance sent out a message on Satuday evening. It was tremendous to watch, even the way we passed our way out of trouble at the back - which was seldom, dare I say it reminded me of the old enemy.

I also would rather have the point, with that second half performance, than all 3 and felt we had been lucky. Providing, of course, its a sign of things to come. We resemble a real footballing team with spirit and character. We look like a proper team now as oppossed to a bunch of individuals (City take note)...

Yes I would of liked the 3 points, but the more important issue here was a different looking Tottenham Hotspur totally dominating a rival in their own back yard on a wet and windy November evening. Now that is something I aint use to following this Club. A sign of change? I think so.

For me that second half performance was more satisfying than the thrashing we gave Wigan, most wont understand that perspective - but that second half performance was not the Spurs I have been use to following for years. It was wonderfully encouraging, in terms of things to come.

im feeling for a top 5 finish. i think we will miss out on top 4 by one the final place because we dont have the consistency to play week in week out. we need to go to the big games knowing that we can win. i think there is still a lack of belief amongst the management more than anything else.

we the fans believe we can beat anyone when we at our best and this needs to got through everyone at the club. BELIEVE

I hope we get a playmaker like sandro to replace thudd and jenas. sell jenas if we do because we have cover for sandro with modric and krancjar. wilson sitting deep. When wilson has 'off' games him and the thudd can alternate.

we need to get something out of gio dos santos because either wing he would be good impact player especially if lennon gets injured or tired. hopefully we see what bale, bentley, pav and possibly gio can do tomorrow against man utd.

I would like to keep a strong team out there as United are beatable with their kids and we have no europe so need to progress in the cup games.

Hudd keeps this up he wont need replacing, and I also thought Sandro was a DM...infact I am certain he is.

I have to agree. I think Harry is thinking along the same lines and that's why he keeps picking him. If Hudd continues to impress there will be no need to get a replacement.

Yep - and I probably sound like a broken recond on here, the amount I go on about the Hudd!

Yes, Harry keeps playing him in order to keep developing him as he is all to aware of the ability and talents of the Hudd. Said it before and will say it again - he's determined to turn Hudd into a fantastic central midfielder. Which he has the potential to be, as he has the quality (which cant really be coached - you either have it or you dont)..the rest can be worked upon, and racking up playing time is the only real way to keep progressing up a steep learning curve.
