when this rumour first surfaced i thought it was a good idea but that he wouldnt play that much so he'd be less likely to come but now with King's injury he'd be guarenteed a few games at least

Yes please! We need the cover at centre half and another natural leader wouldn't go amiss either. As far as I'm concerned he has been the most consistent centre half of his generation. His performances at the World Cup proved once again that even at 34 he is still a top talent and still has the drive and hunger to succeed. Added to this the knowledge he could impart to Ledders and Big Daws is priceless. Sign him up Mart.

I'd take him, great cover and a little bit of an Argentian connection wouldn't hurt again.

As Austin Powers said when they asked him, 'Sex?': 'Yes Please:) '
He'd be a massive signing. Huge player. One of the best defenders of his generation, and I'd say there is another good year or two left in him. We'd then have two world class centre backs and one who is fast becoming one.

With everyone talking about his leadership, can he communicate in English?

Would be a great assest, and would inspire the younger players just like Davids did last season, however would he be content to play as a back up to Dawson and King ( when fit ).

No, but would you argue with him, he's hard as nails.

Well the signings of Naybet and Davids worked IMO, and they were of the same nature. Naybet improved our defence, and Davids had improved our midfield also. So Ayala could work as extra cover; for experience which should rub off on Davenport/ Dawson. (King dont need it he's the best lol!)

Davids speaks good English and Naybet might be able to communicate by a mixture of French and pigeon English.
The only way an old Argie defender can lead the young guys by example is to show them the dirty little tricks the Argies have been famous for since the "Animal" in 1966.

Ayala would be an exellent signing, and a cheap one. Oh, and yes he has that Argie cleverness in defence that can erase from the field any player. Argentina-ivory Coast is a very good example as he nearly erased Drogba, although the african is much more bigger and faster.

Do we want to go down to that level?

If he can man-mark Rooney, Henry and Shevchenko out of a game, then he's worth a shout.
