Does anybody else think its weird nobody ever mentions Woodgate's name when talking about England's squad for the world cup?
They talk about Ledley and he can't even train.
I think Woody should be third choice behind Terry and Rio. He's better and more experienced than Upson, Lescott, Richards and Cahill.
Woodgate should be at the world cup.

I thoroughly agree with you. It's amazing he isn't picked in the squad every time. He's a really top player.
I actually thought he was better when he came, I have to say, maybe the injuries took their toll on him but he's still a fantastic player. He's not very quick, never was really quick, but I thought he had more presence. Having siad that the rest of his game is excellent and he's usually in the right position.
Very quietly efficient and certainly international class. You only have to look at our defensive record with him in the side. King and himself make a big difference.

Two things for me:
i) Ferdinand is next to useless nowadays. His reputation seems to be purely the product of Manchester United hype and a couple of inflated price tags courtesy of his agent. He regularly makes professional mis-judgements that indicate a footballing sense only a brain-damaged gekko could envy;
ii) Beckham's steadying of the England team against Belarus wasn't so much an indicator of his presence and authority as John Terry's lack of either quality. I'd not only say Woody for England, but Woody for England captain, rather than that gay porn film-making, fellatio-without-touching loving Chelski pisshead.

i agree with you on ferdinand, who is only decent if he has vidic or terry alongside him doing his dirty work. However, as much as i loath terry, he is a class defender and inspirational captain.

Woody was looking like England's next big CB before his disgrace and subsequent injuries. Had he had a clear career like those two, he would be miles ahead of them. Same goes for KIng. It's a tragedy in footballing terms that those two have had such injury problems, as they are undoubtedly two of the best defensive talents in this country.

Possibly. Especially if it was after his debut (own goal and a red card I seem to recall?)
