UEFA Cup: Explanation Anyone?

I'm sure it's been discussed here before and apologies for bringing it up but how does the UEFA Cup format work? do we go straight into a group, is it knock out first couple of rounds? When do Spurs come in? Can we draw West Ham?And finally why the f*ck does it have to be so complicated and drawn out.

We come in at the 1st round stage I think. That's a 2-legged, traditional style knockout. Then if we win we go into a group of 5 teams (correct me if I'm wrong!) If we finish in the top 3(!!!) then it's knockout all the way to the final!

Interstingly we ae the highest ranked of the NON-seeded teams for the 1st round (but it's based on all the highest ranked teams going through from the previous round, so fingers crossed some of the lower teams make it through so we should be seeded!)

The Champions League losers don't join until the knockout stages.

Ye that seems right to me. Is it not also that from the group stage 1st from a group gets 3rd from another and 2nd gets the champions league dropouts to play in the next round?

it all does seem too kin complicated , i know its all about producing good revenue streams now but i so much preferred knockout european football all the way through .

i think the league system might work in our favour though. we seem to panick a lot more in knockout games (we did last season anyway)

I know its because of the coefficient but it angers me how Newcastle are seeded when they are only in because of intertoto, and we qualified the proper way, through the league.

I have a strong allegance to supporting England. My grandfather was born in London, and during my school years we were forced to play rugby only to tell our PE teacher to **** off and start our own football team.

So what with Wales being a rugby nation, and because of school's refusal to even recognise football as a sport, I refuse to support our joke of a national side anyway. It's like it exists just for the sake of it.
