he scores again for sunderland. this time they won but what do you think of him.
personally i think that he fits in very well at a club like sunderland. he will not be able to come into the forefront at bigger teams like us.
we all knew that he was a clinical goalscorer and he looks good at sunderland especially as they have frazier campbell there who is no match for him. only jones will be able to knock him out the side. his hold up play is still non existent and he still cant head.
so we are not missing much now that we have 4 world class strickers.

Hopefully everyone who just decided that he was shit regardless of all evidence will now be realising how wrong they were.
And before someone says it, I don't care if he doesn't offer much more than goals to the team, he's scoring for fun, he is a quality striker.

Good luck to him...hope he keeps it going. Good all round for everybody...he needed the move and we are scoring for fun without him...so best all round.

He'll always score goals, certainly not a shit player or as I've heard at times that he isn't a good finisher. He's a clinical finisher.
His general play is poor though so he's not what I would call a top striker, but a good player for a mid-table team. The type that would help you stave off relegation because he will take chances and get you enough points.
His goal record speaks for itself.

so is his first touch. I remember the equalizer he scored against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to make it 1-1 last season, his first touch before he scored went miles away from him, Bent literally had to speed right up to get to it and score.

He's great for a team like Sunderland, who doesn't really try to play football. Just hoof it upfield and play off the shoulder. He was great at scoring in a poor Charlton side, he scored for us, but brought little else to the table, and he will score wherever else he goes. Get enough chances to poach and you will score, but he won't ever create chances for others. The move was perfect for both sides.

I agree, I rate Bent to the extent of the team he is playing with and his performances. He was absolutely fantastic for Charlton and was a prolific goal scorer. For spurs he did not fit in as I believe he does not belong in a top side. When playing the sort of football that Sunderland does, only then will he be able to score. he lacks the creativity to make his own goals and support others. I don't think we miss him as we have 4 better strikers however I do have a soft spot for him so I hope he does continue scoring goals (bar when he plays us!!)

He's scored a couple of pens hasnt he, therefore not too excited by his tally? Does the simple things fine so a good squad player for us. However we will never know how good he could have been if we used him regularly and gave him the main man status. (sadly we have too many big players)
some players just need to be the big fish in a small pond to have confidence.

agree with this , seems the quiet type of personality to be overawed when lined up along side the top guys
