I see Defoe scores another one dimensional goal for england. And Lennon who has a better assist record in his career over walcott gives rooney a peach of a ball and he missed. But as the media like to keep reminding you when lennon puts in a crap cross that he needs to work on his final ball (which is true), but they never say the same for swp or walcott.

I think England will beat Slovenia 2-1, Lampard and Defoe to score.
Wednesday we will win 3-0. Rooney to score 2, Gerrard.

I don't think anyone is calling Defoe one dimensional these days, his movement, link up and decision making has drastically improved. He's a top player now and I don't know how he isn't starting for England.
And I think people do criticise SWP and Walcott to be honest mate. Their final ball isn't great and they are pretty brainless. For me Lennon has more skill, balance, the best first touch and is improving on the end product all the time which the others aren't as far as I can see.

Pointless friendly on saturday, with an alarmingly poor display I thought. Defoe is his usual firecracker self. He doesn't even need to work the space anymore. If he has any kind of sight on goal he just tw@ts it, with little backlift there as well I might add.
I'd still start with Rooney and Heskey though. If Defoe is finding he can make an impact coming on with 30 mins left and can impact like that each time then I say keep it like that.

I think a big part of that mate is his off the ball movement has notched up a few gears in the last six months. When he gets the ball now he's not in a blind alley and if he is he does the right thing and plays it to someone in a better position and gets into position for a possible return or drags someone away.
But I think the gymwork too has added even more explosiveness to the first yard or two of his runs and his shooting. He's a VERY exciting player now, a proper striker. I really feel him and Keane could be the talk of the town all year.
You can even hear it before the matches with the opposition managers in the tone and even literally at times, 'what the f*ck are we supposed to do trying to mark these two up front, modric and lennon, it's a nightmare.'

Yean but if we listened to you it would be a keane - crouch combo or do I need to dig up old posts. You were wrong!!!!
Defoe has always been better than keane he just hasnt had a run in the team. Now he is top dog the goals are flying in.
Cant wait until the world cup because defoe will fire us to glory and keane will be on the beach1!!!!

But according to Jol they can't play together. For god sake if Jol said it, it must be gospel!
Give me pace and movement any day over power and presence.

Disaagree. You need a big man up friont otherwise how are you giong to score from crosses coming into the box. No incentive for the wide players to cross if there are midgets in there.

Things change little man, it's all in the predicion thread as well, not that it matters what I say it is only about spurs!
Defoe has looked sensational from pre-season and has to be picked imo and so does Keane imo. Defoe had runs and games he was once first choice over Keane as well for months, he is just a different player altogether now and as good as Keane now in his own way in my view.

Not necessarily mate, you can play with two nippy skillful players as long as you keep it on the deck and move well, which is what our two do. Look at Yorke/Cole for example, read each other well and worked together. Result was bags of goals and assists for both. With Lennon and Modric being players based around skill and pace we don't deliver that many good crosses in anyway. We're playing to our strengths and it's working like a charm.
