White Hart Lane to see more of Dos Santos Mexican flair?

HARRY Redknapp has hinted that Giovani Dos Santos could finally get a run at the first team following Jamie O'Hara's departure to Portsmouth on loan.
The Mexican midfielder was given his third competitive start under Redknapp in the 5-1 Carling Cup victory over Doncaster.
And, after taking O'Hara's place on the bench against Birmingham at the weekend, Giovani could now get the chance to impress.
"He played the other night and did very well," said Redknapp. "He looked lively at Doncaster, so hopefully he can continue in that form.
"He's had a good spell with the Mexican national team, he was the player of the tournament recently [in the CONCACAF Gold Cup] so he looks like he's certainly got something to offer and he's got a part to play here.
"If he continues in that form, if he dedicates himself to being a top player, then there's no reason why he can't do that. He's got all the ability, but it's up to him now."
Giovani arrived last summer as a 4.7million recruit from Barcelona and was billed as an attacking midfielder who would supply pace, flair and goals.
However, having featured in seven of Spurs' disastrous opening eight league matches under Juande Ramos, the 20-year-old disappeared as soon as Redknapp arrived.
Giovani made just three further appearances for Spurs before a loan spell at Ipswich, but he could now get a second shot at Tottenham's first-team squad in the coming months.

Good news hearing that gio is in harry's plans I thought harry would try and flog him. I hope gio does knuckle down and try and make it at spurs. I like flair players and we've always had one or two around the team and he certainly fits the bill as one. We need to bring him on in games when we've made the game safe ie hull 1- 5. May be when giving lennon a rest after the jobs done .

In Harry we trust. Many of us have wondered why Gio wasn't getting a game, but its clear that Harry did not like what he was seeing on the training pitch. It really is up to Gio if he wants to push on and become a top player with us.

Read in between the lines, 'arry is actually kciking him up the arse properly rathr than bigging him up;
"If he continues in that form, if he dedicates himself to being a top player, then there's no reason why he can't do that. He's got all the ability, but it's up to him now."
That to me is utterly damning of GdS. "...if he dedicates himself...it's up to him..." those are not good comments.

Yep - acknowledging his talent and his poor attitude. You should be bloody dedicated getting a chance to make it in the EPL on that sort of money. I think GDS could be fantastic, but Harry has obviously decided to give him one last chance to get his attitude sorted as the talent is there - so its up to him - we shall see.

We've four utter superstar talents on our books; Ledley King, Luka Modric, Adel Taarabt and Giovanni Dos Santos, but only two superstars. Only two of them appear to have the dedication to becoming a great footballer.
And Harry's comments on all of them back that up. It takes more than talent, you have to be a winner that wants to make something of yourself as well.
It would be a great shame if Adel and Gio didn't become world class footballers because they are both insanely talented.
We've an awful lot of talent at spurs and if this 12 months isn't a great example of what talent is without drive and proper commitment then I don't know what is.
But it gives me hope that these lads are looking on at the transformation at the club and will wake up.
They need to look at players like Modric, Keane, Defoe, and take a leaf from their book. Keane and Defoe are frightfully talented, they don't have superstar talent, but they are winners and their commitment and talent makes them close to world class.
Modric would be on the bench like Gio without his commitment, but he's world class and heading for superstardom the way things are going.
Defoe needed to cop on to himself last twelve months as well to make the most of his ability, be a better player and he did it with Harry's help. These fellas couldn't have a better manager to get the best out of them, he's turned around countless players.

Harry has basically said he is a lazy, doesnt train properly and will only make it if he trains properly.
All this he isnt good enough is the sort of the thing I heard about a lot of our players before.
If he does work hard he can play the seCond striker role better than keane.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I think he's a winger or wing forward by nature and his next best position second striker.
I think he's potentially a world class winger and better than Keane but not in Keane's position. I can't see him having the brain to pull the strings the way Keane does and the same quality of movement.
He has to get in the team first and even prove he's top class!
I am loathe to talk up losers over winners like Keane, Defoe, Lennon, Modric etc. who have talent and made something of themselves.
People talk about Georgie Best but he worked as hard as he played. He burnt out early alright but you couldn't fault his commitment in training and by extension in matches and the level of performance.
Gio needs to get his finger out.

You really just have to look at Glen Johnson to see what Harry can do to a player. A youngster with great talent, lost his way a bit and seemed destined for mediocrity - and now look at him - probably England's best right back.

luka , adel and gio dear i say it are the type of players arse normally go for (gifted footballers ) i can't help but think luka aside , that had they been under wengers tutelage from day one they may be first teamers by now or am i wrong in saying that.
After all ramos felt gio was worthy of a starting place from the off i know some may say yea but thats the same team which won 2 points from 8 but many of us too thought when gio arrived that he would be ronaldinho the second coming . And Jol was bringing tarrahbt on for cameos two years ago .
why i say this is we've not had a steady period regarding managers since they've been here no doubt harry will put them straight i'm not worried in the least.

Well, maybe what they needed was more faith, so maybe you are right, but end of the day if you are doing it in training then you will be picked for matches and all the Harry quotes suggest they aren't working hard enough on fitness, off the ball work etc.
Harry's track record with players is as good as they come so maybe you really have to look at them.
It doesn't always happen for Wenger either. Remember Jose Reyes? Paid a fortune for him (not relatively small amounts like we did with Adel and Gio), huge talent, didn't do the business.
There are other ones too, he sweeps up a lot of talent, that's how he does it and then people remember who he developed and who took responsiblity for themselves.
Granted he's clearly got one of the best eyes for talent around and knows how to develop them, but Harry is as good for that as well imo. This is the first time Harry has been at a big club with resources and he still hasn't the resources the top four have due to cl money over many years. Hopefully we can change that over the next period.
