It seems Chelski are up to there old tricks again, this time they have been caught tapping up Leeds academy players. An offer was made by Chelski of around £200k for players, but the Leeds chairman has refused this and is to report the matter to FA.

I think they should be deducted points for this coming season and fined very heavy for yet another breach of PL rules and also FIFA should act with a possible expolsion from the CL

They are becoming the Trotters Independant Traders of Football.

You would think after everything that has happened in Serie A that would be a little more diplomatic in their approach. That slimey slaphead and Roman the Oilbarian think they are untouchable.

If it ever went tits up for them and they had to offload all the players they would make such a financial loss. Unfortunately Roman can afford it.

It's not Roman who can afford it, but the poor Russians are made to pay for it.

I don't care about Chelski, the only thing that irks me about them is that while it's not admitted, they DO just employ people so that other cannot have them, therefore pose less of a threat.

Take Duff, Arnesen, Jon 'Obi-Wan' Mikel, SWP, Diarra, Johnson, Bridge for example.

They would not have sold Duff to a rival team, and if they did it would not have been for £5M. Arnesen was unearthing so much talent here that they shat their pants, tapped him up and have now given him a meaningless job.

They have paid £12M to ManUre for a player ManUre never even had, just so ManUre couldn't have him. In SWP's case, why would you pay £21M for a player then never play him, even though he is undoubted Premiership quality?

Lassana Diarra would most definately be at Arsenal if they hadn't have snapped him up, but he's not going to get a game anyway, what with Ballack, Lampard, Essien and Makelele all ahead of him.

Johnson and Bridge, two great English talents, somehow haven't found their way to top clubs after falling out of favour, but Pompey and Fulham.

They are slowly but surely destroying our game.

Nice summary Welsh, we can also add Crespo and Jorosik to that list.

Chelsea have single-handedly proved the case for wage caps and a cap on squad sizes. It's something I would have been very opposed to a few seasons ago but with the advent of Chelsea and Man U to a certain extent, IMO it is the only way to ensure that football does not become irrelevant as a competition.

Thanks! And Smertin, while we're at it!

I think it is already fast becoming 'money-rules', the only thing keeping competition going is the lure of massive clubs like Barcelona, Madrid, Juve and AC Milan, and ManUre and Liverpool in this country. Players still go to these clubs as they have massive appeal, but the Russians are slowly eradicating this, as the transfers of Shevchenko and Ballack prove.

I actually admire Gallas for rebelling against them, shame they'll use their financial clout to make an example of him now.

I really think the salary cap thing is not in agreement with the EU liberalism thing.

Welsh Spur

Never mind a salary cap, there should also be a goddamn Transfer cap, it would take away some of the power Chelski now have.

We just need the rules to change so you must have a certain amount of English players.

Sorted.

I mean a limit to how much you can pay for a player, then more teams will be able to afford a certain player is you can't spend more than, say £10million on him. And he can choose who he really wants to play for. But then I guess teams might be a little more reluctant to sell players like Ronaldinho for £10million.

I hate the fact there is little loyalty to teams these days...it would be nice for players to feel for their club like fans do, then competition would be much more intense.....could you imagine playing the scum if both sets of players were as passionate and committed as the fans? Red-card fest, I think.....

there should be a transfer and salary cap. the money is going out of football to agents and mega rich players. that should be used for grass roots and training facilities where it has some worth.

The FA cannot hurt Chelsea financially so if they are punished (which is highly unlikely as the FA are as weak as piss) then they have to be docked points..... and enough points to make sure they don't do it again. They were already on a suspended sentence over the Ashley Cole affair. They simply don't think any rules apply to them & that's not healthy for the game imo.

Welsh Spur
4th August 2006, 11:01 AM
you are right and the suspended 3 points should now come into effect. Not that it'll make much difference, it's one win. Some punishment.

Agree with you lot on Salary Caps, might be hard to implement though what with agents, players contracts, FIFA need to act implement it across the board.

Football is becoming as corrupt as dog & horse racing.

Spur

It's been corrupt for a long time. Especially over at the red half of north London, as with the Beveren debacle.

Billywhizz

Absolutely, D.Dein loses his seat on the board @ the FA (big deal) not even a slap on the wrists to the scum utter piss take

Chinaman

No, not 3 points. If the current complaint is proven valid, they should be docked at least 6 points as it's a repeat misdemeanour. On top of that, the suspended penalty of 3 points should be brought in to be served consecutively, bringing it to a total of 9 points. That would level the playing field for the 4 teams below them, and we'll have a good chance of the League Champioship since 1961.

I like Chinaman's idea. That gets my vote!
